YES! Power Of Self-Advocacy Workshop

Bring your child with dyslexia for an advocacy-focused morning. Our Senior ambassadors will show off the presentations they share with their teachers at the beginning of each year to explain what they need to be successful at school.

How do you get what you need at school?
Know what you need and why you need it
Practice with a parent or friend
Know what’s in your IEP or 504
Standing up for you helps others too!

This event focuses on setting the year off right with self advocacy skits and discussion – our ambassadors even share their personal presentations and talk about how sharing it with their teachers makes it easier to ask for help later in the year.  Our workshop focuses on three things:

  1. Showing young dyslexic kids how older students talk to their teachers about their struggles.
  2. Showing parents of dyslexic kids how to best support their students. Learn when to step in and when to step back.
  3. Special small group video chat interactions with ambassadors and their parent to build your own outline and presentation. (Members only)
